Improvements needed in waste separation
On paper, everything seems well organised: waste is collected by a single party that takes care of processing and separation. However, in practice it often means that valuable thin aluminium ends up with mixed waste. In many cases, it is treated in an incinerator or becomes contaminated, making it virtually unusable, or only usable in low-value applications (downcycling).
We think that’s a waste. Because this material is still valuable if it is collected and processed in the right way.

Did you know that recycled aluminium only requires 5% of the energy needed to produce new aluminium from raw materials? Keeping aluminium in a closed loop not only saves on raw materials, it also results in significant energy and carbon emission savings.
